      If you have served in the Armed Forces, it isn’t too late to claim for hearing loss or tinnitus but time is running out.

      • Recent changes in the law have made the claims process easier and faster.
      • You may have been exposed to excessive noise such as;
        • Gunfire
        • Explosives
        • Aircraft noise
        • Ship engine rooms
        • Armoured vehicles and other machinery
      • Before 1987, the Ministry of Defence (MOD) had the protection of “Crown Immunity” and claims for hearing loss and other injuries couldn’t be made. However, service after 1987 does entitle personnel to certain Health & Safety law protection.
      • More and more veterans are coming forward because while slight hearing loss may not seem too troublesome, it can deteriorate and can cut careers short or make finding suitable employment difficult. We can recover compensation not just for the injury (see the compensation tariff below), but also for loss of earnings and the latest state of the art hearing aids if required.
      • How far can I go back? You can claim for exposure to excessive noise for any service back to 1987. There are typically time limits for claiming of 3 years from when noise induced hearing loss was diagnosed however symptoms may only surface many years after exposure to noise.

      If you have any hearing loss caused by a noisy workplace, you could be entitled to the following based on how serious the injury is (excluding loss of earnings and other expenses);

      Slight

      £5,225
      to £8,800

      Mild

      £8,800
      to £10,450

      Moderate

      £10,450
      to £20,900

      Severe

      £20,900
      to £31,900

We use our many years of experience and knowledge in this area to file claims with employers’ insurers. Where we are able to prove an injury, we are successful in most claims.

      We represent thousands of clients who have suffered hearing loss and tinnitus. We have recovered millions in compensation. Here is a summary of some recent settlements:-

      Mr W

      Mr W was employed by the Ministry of Defence from 1985 to 2020 as an army reserve soldier. He was required to operate and was exposed to noise from handheld weapons such as pistols and rifles. He also conducted operational tours where he was exposed to noise from demolitions, gunfire, and mortar/artillery fire.

      The Ministry of Defence conceded liability in his claim.

      Medical evidence was obtained, which demonstrated noise-induced hearing loss and moderate tinnitus.

      Following negotiations, the claim successfully settled for £14,500.

      That’s not a problem, just call or email and we will advise you if you have a claim and the time limits that apply.
